A new website to help talented young people and job seekers gain a foothold in the energy industry has been launched by the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR).
Skills for Energy is a core programme of the group, which represents more than 200 members across the region, ranging from energy producers to supply chain companies. It was created to ensure there is an ongoing pipeline of talented individuals entering the energy workforce with the right skills.
The website, funded by ScottishPower Renewables, has been built from the ground up to be attractive and engaging for students and young people, but also other groups the organisation works with such as industry partners, EEEGR members, people looking to transition into the industry, job seekers and education and training providers.
Skills for Energy programme manager, Gemma Head, said: “We are very excited to see this new website go live. It will be a vital source of information and useful resources for individuals and organisations seeking to expand their knowledge and understanding of the energy sector and the Skills for Energy programme.”
Charlie Jordan, ScottishPower Renewables project director for East Anglia ONE and EEEGR board member, said: “We’re very proud to support the new Skills for Energy website, which will give a further boost to growing the extensive skills base that has been established for the offshore wind industry across the East of England.
“The provision of a digital ‘one stop shop’ where people and business can find out all they need to know about how to get involved in delivering a cleaner and greener future for us all will make it much easier to attract and keep the wealth of talent that exists across the area. It supports our collective ambitions to create a positive legacy that will benefit generations to come and is testament to the region’s role as a global hub for the industry, investment and skills.”
