One of Norfolk's top livestock judges, Sarah Leonard, was competing for the last time at the National Prime Stock Show.

A keen member of Dereham Young Farmers' Club, she finished sixth in the classes for judging pig carcases and also took 11th place in the lamb section and was the only member representing Norfolk.

This follows the success of another keen member, Ruby Wright, of North Walsham YFC, who recently won the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society's top award as best young exhibitor.

Ruby, aged 15, from Felbrigg, near Cromer, also runs her own "Ruby" herd of pedigree Angus cattle, which she started four years ago.

It is rather sad to report that Norwich YFC has closed. We wish all the past members well for the future and hope that if other clubs find a Norwich member on your doorstep you will make them very welcome within your club.

Tomorrow, it is winter competitions' day. Please make sure your exhibits are in by 10.30am for judging.

Schedules for all competitions have now been sent out.

Recycle to Ghana. Still time to bring bicycles, computers, furniture, hand tools, spectacles, books. Bring them tomorrow.
