A Scottish renewable energy firm is powering its way into Norfolk with plans to create a new service hub in King's Lynn.

Aberdeen-based Raggnar Power has joined forces with hardwood flooring manufacturer Reeve Wood to launch a support centre for biomass boilers on the Hardwick Training Estate.

The move will create upwards of 10 new jobs as the company looks to recruit business development specialist, plumbers and heating engineers to work with customers across East Anglia.

Nigel Perkins, chief executive of Raggnar Group, said: 'Demand for clean, localised power generation is booming as more and more communities and businesses wake up to its significant financial and environmental benefits. With its contacts, experience and ethos, Reeve is the ideal partner with which to establish customer service presence in the east of England.'

The centre, based at the Reeve factory, is part of a network of hubs being rolled out across the UK, with centres already up and running in Aberdeenshire, Swindon and Broadstairs. Plans are also underway to open another five sites next year.

Reeve has been operating from King's Lynn for more than 20 years and employs 18 people to support its flooring business.

It has reduced its heating bills by £5,000 and is generating an income worth £25,000 a year from the government's Renewable Heat Incentive scheme since installing a Raggnar biomass system at its own factory in 2014.

Tom de Winton, managing director at Reeve Wood, who will take charge of the new venture, said: 'As an existing Raggnar user we fully understand the process and benefits of investing in renewables from the customer perspective.

'With the backing of Raggnar's experience and highly efficient systems, we are very well placed to diversify into renewables and help many more people realise the benefits of doing so.'

The Eastern Daily Press is currently searching for leading businesses and organisations making their mark as green and sustainable companies to join The Green 100.

Its ambition is to identify at least 100 more businesses leading the way on green issues, including non-green businesses and organisations which have introduced sustainable innovations.
