The vice-chancellor of the University of East Anglia, Prof David Richardson, has been named the new chairman of Norwich Research Park.

Having joined the board at its inception in 2012, Prof Richardson takes over from Anthony Habgood, who has concluded his three-year tenure but remains on the board.

Prof Richardson said: 'Norwich Research Park is a community of research organisations with world leading science credentials and I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed chair of Norwich Research Partners LLP.'

Appointed UEA vice-chancellor in January 2014, Prof Richardson is also a former member of the governing council of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council which plays a key role in the shaping of UK research policy.

Mark Davies, chief executive at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Trust, and Prof Ian Charles, director of the Institute for Food Research and founding director of the new Quadram Institute, have also joined the board.
