Bridgham teenager Liam Dawes has received an insight into the various aspects of business life, during aweek's work experience “tour” organised by his near neighbour and assistant director of chartered accountants Lovewell Blake, Mike Brown.

Liam, 17, and currently studying A-levels at Wymondham College, relishes the thought of entering the business world and is already planning to set up his own business.

So Mike Brown organised for him to spend a week with different professional firms all over the county, to give him his first real taste of the business world.

"Liam has just passed his motorbike test and he reminds me of myself when I first started work, travelling on a motorbike with a hunger for business," said Mike. "He is now making decisions about his future career and I wanted to be able to show him just some of the opportunities available with a number of different companies that I work with regularly in my role at Lovewell Blake."

On the Monday, Liam was at web development agency Zoom Zoom, where he was introduced to website design, marketing new websites and search engine optimisation.

He spent the Tuesday with The Lively Crew, getting an insight into marketing strategies and implementation - where he rose to the challenge of some direct telemarketing.

On the Wednesday, Lovewell Blake welcomed Liam into the modern world of accountancy where, as well as carrying out accounts work at its Norwich and Thetford offices, he saw how Lovewell Blake helps clients developing their businesses, successfully drawing on many specialist skills that exist within the firm.

Courtesy of Bob McGeedy, property partner at solicitors Kester Cunningham John and another keen motorcyclist, Liam spent the Thursday in the firm's Thetford office and got an insight how a major law firm operates.

Marketing communications specialists IRG, were the final company to support Liam's busy week. There he developed a press release for the media, attended a photo shoot and learned about planning a marketing campaign.

"I have had a fantastic and busy week that has given me my first insight into what business life is really like, which I really enjoyed," said Liam.

"I would like to thank those who made the week possible and welcomed me into their business environment. The whole experience had a real community feel about it which is the way, I guess, Mike and the others succeed by working together for the best interest of the client."

Lovewell Blake is one of the region's leading accountancy firms and a UK top 40 firm, with clients ranging from small and medium sized businesses to major companies.
