Jonny Crickmore, from Flixton, tells us about his job on the family farm - Fen Farm Dairy.

Name: Jonny Crickmore

Age: 35

Job title and employer: Business owner of Fen Farm Dairy

My job in a nutshell: Run around all day until I get dizzy! I manage a third generation dairy farm on the outskirts of Bungay and in recent years we have diversified the business into selling raw milk, a raw milk cheese called Baron Bigod and, most recently, a raw cultured butter. To add to the mix we have now started helping other dairy farmers set up their own on-farm raw milk vending machines.

How I got into my job: I was born into it, I have been milking cows since I was four. The cheese-making came about from being totally fed up with the way the dairy industry had been running and I felt I wanted to take control of the price we get paid for our product.

The most enjoyable part of what I do: Waking the cows up at 3.30am for milking, when they are out in the fields in late May. It's stunning scenery down in the Waveney Valley and it's just me and the girls and the sound of birds singing.

You might not know this about my job: We have been told by good french contacts that we are the only raw milk Brie, farmhouse cheese makers in the world. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there are no true 'fermier' Brie makers left in France.

My best day at work: When our Montbeliardes arrived from France (our french cheese-making cows). Seeing those chunky red and white cows walking off the lorry was the beginning of a new era for our business.

My first job: Gate duty. I would go with my father to count the cattle out on the marshes and my job would be to let the Landrover onto the fields through the gate without letting the cattle escape!
