Hughes Electrical, a member of the EDP/EADT Top 100 list of top turnover companies in the region, has built the facility at its Hall Road store in Norwich to help shoppers to decide if an appliance will work for them.

There are plans to hold professional chef demonstrations to show how to best use the equipment.

Regional manager Mark Ferdani said: 'The 'built in' market is growing rapidly, while the kitchen is becoming an increasingly important part of the modern home. However, we realised people really don't know what their new appliances will actually be like until they have them installed. Therefore, we took the decision to invest in the demonstration kitchen area so customers can come and see for themselves how appliances operate before making a decision on what best suits their needs.'
