Selenium-enriched bread and flour will soon be reaching more health-conscious con-sumers thanks to the Home-Grown Cereals Authority's (HGCA) Enterprise Awards.

These products are the first in the world to benefit from the innovative technology developed by Norfolk-based Nutrilaw to deliver this important nutrient in foods made from home-grown wheat.

The HGCA Enterprise Awards, which reward inno-vation with UK grain, have given funding of £10,000 to Nutrilaw, based at Narbo-rough, near King's Lynn.

The bread and flour is made from home-grown wheat, which has been grown in soil fertilised with precise amounts of selenium.

Selenium has many health benefits, yet the average intake in Britain has fallen by half in the past 20 years.
