The hunt is on for a team of 'royals' for this summer's Cromer Carnival, which is from August 17 to 23.

The Miss Cromer competition is at The Cliftonville Hotel from 7.30pm on Friday May 3, where judges will also choose the senior attendant.

The junior attendants competition will take place on Friday May 24 at 7pm at The Cottage. The prince and princess competition will take place on Sunday May 26 at 3pm at the Community Hall.

Entrants must be 17 years old or over and live in Cromer, Suffield Park, Aldborough, Aylmerton, East or West Runton, Felbrigg, Hanworth, Northrepps, Overstrand, Roughton, Sidestrand, Sustead or Trimingham.

Contestants must be able to attend all day on August 18 and 21 and for the whole of Carnival week, if possible.

Organiser Michelle Hedge said: 'The Carnival is one of Cromer's highlights and is a fantastic event to be part of. The role of Miss Cromer is a fabulous opportunity to represent Cromer and have a unique and fun experience.

'The night is very relaxed and all entrants will have the opportunity to have an informal chat with the judges. This is a brilliant way to kick off the coming Carnival season.'

Miss Cromer 2012 Elsie Yiasimi said: 'It was a wonderful experience I met some lovely people and it was a pleasure to represent my town. The amount of work that goes into the carnival is amazing.'

The winner, who will be crowned Miss Cromer at a ceremony on Sunday August 18, during carnival week, will win a prize of £200, sponsored by Woodrows Chartered Surveyors. The senior attendant, sponsored by Icarus Hines Butchers, will receive a prize of £150.
