Bosses of Colchester-based RESULT Clothing are looking to breathe new life into the former Hawkins Bazaar site on Beccles Business Park.

The 21,135 sqm, including offices and mezzanine levels on a site of 14.5 acres (5.86 hectares). The property was purpose-built in 2007 as the national distribution centre for the Hawkins Bazaar retail.

When Hawkins Bazaar went into administration in 2012 only eight of its 65 stores survived as the business was scaled back, with 480 staff losing their jobs including workers at the Beccles HQ.

Following the deal, RESULT Clothing, which distributes products throughout Europe to 'garment decorators' and 'corporate clothing providers' intends to make the Beccles site its main distribution hub.

It plans to move into the site in the New Year.

David Sanders Smith, said the firm was also interested in hearing from former Hawkins Bazaar staff with a view to reemploying some.

'The Beccles warehouse is a fantastic facility that will enable us to increase our capacity and has scope for possible future expansion,' he said. 'We are keen to contact previous employees with a view of reemploying some – and would interested to receive any CV's with previous job descriptions.'

James Allen, of Roche Chartered Surveyors, who handled the sale, said: 'The availability of large, modern distribution centres in the region is limited because there are few companies that can take on buildings of this size.

'It is extremely satisfying to have attracted RESULT Clothing to Suffolk in what is a very significant investment in the area.'
