The Forge, on the edge of Aylsham off the A140, has been bought by couple Tim and Koi Sizeland.

For the past four years they have run a similar business, the Wheatacre White Lion, near Beccles.

Mr Sizeland, 55, who has been married to Koi, 40, for seven years, wants the restaurant to open this December.

He said: 'We have built up a very successful business. We hope it will be as successful in Aylsham. The Forge is in a good position. Hopefully it will attract a lot more passing trade. I liked the look of it.'

Mr Sizeland said, as well as food, the eatery will be open seven days a week and welcome people who just want a drink.

New staff, including waitresses, kitchen and bar staff, will be employed.

The large building, formerly known as The Greens, has been bought on a freehold basis and was sold by Roche Chartered Surveyors on behalf of pub chain Enterprise Inns.

Mr Sizeland used to work in holiday parks and bars but immediately before running the Wheatacre White Lion used to manage a manufacturing firm.

He lived in Aylsham for two years from 2000 and added: 'I'm looking forward to coming back.'

Mathew Martin, Aylsham Town Council chairman, said the resale was great news because the building, which has been shut for about a year, was a 'blot on the landscape'.

'We want more people to come to Aylsham. Hopefully it will bring opportunities for local people in the town,' he said.
