A radio communications business has won a major contract with an offshore wind farm off the East coast.
Fern Communications' WaveCom system will be used during the construction of ScottishPower Renewables' East Anglia One, which will be based 60km off the East Anglian coast.
The company, which is based in Lowestoft, developed the system with support from a £50,000 grant from the Score programme, which helps supply chain firms in the offshore renewable energy sector.
The same technology was used by Siemens Gamesa on the Galloper wind farm, off the Suffolk coast.
Clive Cushion, technical director at Fern Communications, said: 'WaveCom was already in place with tried and tested proven coverage for the EA1 site.
'Using new technology directly focused at offshore renewables, we had a system ready to roll from day one.'
