The Australian owner of Homebase has sold the retailer for £1 to restructuring specialists Hilco.

BHS British Home Stores was sold by Sir Philip Green's Arcadia Group to a consortium led by Dominic Chappel for £1 in 2015. A year later it entered administration and was eventually liquidated.

A football club Several high profile football clubs have been bought for a quid over the years including Chelsea in 1982, Portsmouth in 1997 and Swansea City in 2001.

Brandon Country Park Brandon Country Park was bought for £1 by Forest Heath District Council from Suffolk County Council in a bid to secure the popular spot's future.

Two newspapers The Independent and Independent on Sunday newspapers were bought by Russian billionaire Alexander Lebedev for £1 in 2010.
