A train journey from Norwich to Sheringham has been named one of the country's most scenic.

The hour-long trip featured in The Times' "most bucolic rail trips" list and was recommended for its mix of city and country scenes.

It appeared among other picturesque journeys such as Fort William to Mallaig in Scotland and Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog in Wales.

A description of the rail trip read: "Starting from the handsome cathedral city of Norwich, it ventures out into the Norfolk Broads, a secret world of lakes and rivers hidden behind screens of reeds, busy with birds, with boat cruises from Hoveton and Wroxham station.

"Once at the Norfolk coast, it stops first at Cromer - famous for its crab sandwiches and pier - and terminates along the shore at Sheringham, a traditional seaside town with good sand."

The journey is available for as low as £10.50 return and up to 17 trains run each day.

In November, The Guardian listed the Norwich to Lowestoft rail journey in its list of the 10 best trips for seeing the autumn sights.
