A cross-Norfolk rail journey has been named one of the UK's most scenic by a national publication. 

The Guardian listed the Norwich to Lowestoft stretch in its study of the 10 best train trips for seeing the sights this autumn. 

It was described as a "wild" 40-minute journey on one of Greater Anglia's "Wherry Lines", passing reedbeds, rivers and racing deer as it travels across the Norfolk Broads.

The paper said: "Water birds can be spotted from the train windows across windmill-dotted marshland.

"The pink-footed geese that overwinter here fly past in huge 'V' shapes towards dusk.

"Near Haddiscoe station is the free-to-enter ruin of St Olave's priory, and the Bell, the oldest recorded pub in the Broadlands is nearby."

It gave special mention to All Hallows guesthouse in Norwich which is "immaculate, friendly and of great value".

The Norwich to Lowestoft journey can be explored with a Wherry Line Ranger ticket which is £12.
