A friend of missing Gaynor Lord has revealed she spoke to the mum-of-three on the phone just hours before her disappearance.

Gaynor has been missing since Friday after she left work at Jarrolds in Norwich at 2.45pm, more than an hour earlier than she was due to finish.

She was reported missing after a member of the public found items of her clothing and jewellery more than a mile away in Wensum Park, which has been closed since Saturday while police search the area.

Julie Butcher, a friend of the missing 55-year-old, said that Gaynor called her at 2.15pm on Friday.

Ms Butcher told Gaynor that she was busy with a client and asked to call her back.

She tried to call Gaynor seven or eight minutes later but did not get a response and tried once more before leaving a voicemail and sending a WhatsApp message saying that she was now free to speak.

Gaynor rang again at 4.15pm but it "sounded like a pocket call" as Ms Butcher "could hear movement in her pocket".

The last sighting of Gaynor was captured on CCTV at 4.01pm as she walked along St Augustines Street.

Ms Butcher said: "I keep going over the conversation. If I hadn't answered that call [from my client] would she have talked to me?

"I feel terrible. I feel so sorry for the family.

"It's not like Gaynor to do this."

Ms Butcher said she last saw her friend in Jarrolds last Tuesday.

Speaking to the BBC, she added: "She seemed fine, no different to the usual Gaynor.

"She was quite upbeat and happy."
