Police officers have seized 57 knives and made nine arrests in Norfolk during a knife crime crackdown. 

The week of action, called Operation Sceptre, ran from November 13 to November 19 and involved 43 forces to target offenders who use and carry knives. 

Of the nine arrests in Norfolk, two people were charged from Norwich and Cromer. 

Inspector Ian Cox said: "This latest week of action underlines our year-round commitment to tackle knife-related crime in Norfolk.

“The Community Policing Teams have worked hard, along with our partner agencies, to seize these weapons, as well as educate people about the risks of carrying a blade. 

“While levels of knife crime do remain low in our county, we know the devastating effect it can have on families. 

"We will continue to work hard to reduce that further and protect our community.” 

Operation Sceptre saw 23 knives handed in at Public Enquiry Offices across Norfolk and police officers carried out hotspot patrols, weapon sweeps, school engagements and shop visits.
