A much-loved independent bookshop has relocated to a bigger and brighter home in Wymondham, with its "enchanting" interior designed by a BBC star.

Since February 2014, Kett's Books has been run as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) and it has just moved from Whartons Court to 11 Market Place in the town.

The new shop opens to the public on Saturday, September 30 at 9.30am, with drinks and treats available all day.

It was designed by Jack Kinsey who lives in Norfolk and was a finalist on the most recent series of the BBC competition show Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr.

An enthusiastic group of around 45 volunteers brought his vision to life.

Tracy Kenny, co-founder and director, said: “Jack’s design has made the bookshop just as cosy and welcoming as it always has been – but with his touch, it is absolutely enchanting.

"We can’t wait for adults and families to browse our books, meet new friends and enjoy the community events we are planning.

"We would like to give a huge thanks to all our volunteers and supporters who have made all this possible.”

Jack's design includes a hand-painted ceiling at the entrance and artificial trees to create a relaxing environment for customers.

There are also rooms available for local businesses to let and co-working spaces with desks.

Mr Kinsey said: "It is a wonderful building with so much potential for a designer.

"My design is inspired by Kett’s Oak - a symbol of not only Wymondham’s historic past but also of Kett’s Books itself.

"We hope that people feel that the bookshop is not only a welcoming and great place to buy a book but somewhere that they will want to revisit for the experience.”

Kett's Books is open 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
