Spooky season is just around the corner and you can get into the Halloween spirit at these pick-your-own pumpkin patches in Norfolk.

1. The Pumpkin House, Thursford

Where: Brookhill Farm, Fakenham Road, Thursford, NR21 0BD

When: October 14 and 15, 21-29, 10am-4pm 

Price: Free entry and parking, pumpkins individually priced, charge for some activities

This purpose-built Halloween house is back for 2023 and it features wooden shelves lined with jack-o'-lanterns.

There will also be thousands of weird and wonderful pumpkins to pick in the field and activities such as a hay bale maze and themed wooded walk. 

Special events include the Brew and Friends Autumn Makers Market on October 14 and 15 and the fancy dress parade at 11.30am on October 29.

2. Church Farm, Heacham

Where: Church Farm, Ringstead Road, Heacham, PE31 7JB

When: October 13-31,10am to 4pm 

Price: Free entry and parking, pumpkins individually priced 

From mini to giant, there will be 12 different varieties to choose from as Church Farm launches its first pumpkin patch.

The Nest, serving hot and cold drinks, bubble waffles and cakes, and The Crafty Burger Company will be there daily and Bordoli Pizzas will pop-up at weekends only.

3. The Pumpkin Festival, Metton 

Where: The Wizard Maze and Play, Hall Farm, Cromer Road, Metton, NR11 8QU

When: October 21-29, 2pm-6.30pm

Price: Purchase of a minimum of two pumpkins is required per group, small: £3, medium: £5, large: £7, activities: free, event aimed at families with children aged 12 and under, free parking 

There will be many different varieties to choose from and a pumpkin carving competition is running, with the top prize of two family passes to the summer maize maze in 2024. 

There will also be a name the scarecrow activity, apple bobbing, a spooky maze and tractor rides.

4. Rookery Meadows, Great Ellingham 

Where: Rookery Farm, Great Ellingham, NR17 1LB

When: October 14 and 15, 21-29, 10am-4pm 

Price: £2.50pp (can be used against the purchase of pumpkins), ages 3s and under: free, booking essential at norfolkvegbox.com, pumpkins individually priced, charge for some activities, free parking 

This farm near Attleborough is once again hosting a Halloween extravaganza with pumpkin picking and a carving area.

There will also be themed craft and gift stalls, face painting, an activity trail and street food traders - make sure to pop into the farm shop when you visit too.

5. Ha Ha Farm, Strumpshaw 

Where: Hemblington Road, Strumpshaw, NR13 4AH

When: October 14-31, 10am-4pm 

Price: Free entry and parking, pumpkins individually priced, charge for some activities 

There will be more than 20 different pumpkin varieties to choose from at this patch, with free carving sessions daily. 

Other highlights include storytelling, a ghostly scavenger hunt, face painting and cookie decorating, with a range of local food and drink businesses appearing over its two-week run.

6. Hirsty's Hoot, Hemsby 

Where: Hirsty's Family Fun Park, Yarmouth Road, Hemsby, NR29 4NL

When: October 14 and 15 (no autumn fairy), 21-29, 10am-4pm

Pick your own pumpkin from the patch, navigate the maze and have fun this October at Hirsty's Family Fun Park. 

There will also be a crafting marquee, storytelling, face painting, a Halloween quiz, a daily fancy dress competition and refreshments.

7. Pumpkin Barn, Hockwold 

Where: Grange Farm, Burdock Lane, Hockwold, IP26 4JN

When: October 14-15, 20-22 and 27-29, 12noon-5pm 

Price: Free entry and parking, pumpkins individually priced

After the success of its pick-your-own sunflowers over the summer, Grange Farm, near Thetford, is launching the Pumpkin Barn in 2023. 

Visitors can choose a pumpkin from the spooky barn and there will also be children's games, hot food and drinks from The Hungry Filly and sweet treats from Baker 39.
