Searches are continuing today for a missing man after a boat sank on the River Waveney.

Police were called by the fire service at 10.10pm on Monday, July 10, to reports that a boat containing five people was sinking on the River Waveney between North Cove and Barnby.

Four of the people were able to get to safety and did not require hospital treatment, but one man in his 30s was unaccounted for.

He has since been named locally as Nathan Strowger.

The search lasted for several hours on Monday night, before being scaled down at about 4am and commencing again on Tuesday.

Officers are continuing with enquiries and further searches of the river are being undertaken by the Norfolk Police Marine Team today.

A number of agencies including ambulance, fire, Hemsby Lifeboat, Broads Authority, police and HM Coastguard have been involved with the search.

Suffolk Constabulary is also consulting with other policing partners over specialist assistance they may be able to provide to the search.

The man's relatives have been informed.
