A pub on the Norfolk coast has been recognised for its work in a top national going-out guide.

Stiffkey Red Lion, a "pub with rooms", has been featured in this year's edition of the Good Food Guide, which has been reviewing the best restaurants, pubs and cafes in the UK since 1951.

The eatery, based in Stiffkey, near Wells, was recognised for being "unmatched in the area" and a "class act" by the publication.

Co-owner and chef Liam Goldstone, said of the entry: "It's wonderful news - we're really, really pleased.

"Considering we've not been open for all that long, I think it's a nod to our wonderful staff and a sign of our continuing growth."

Mr Goldstone's has an impressive culinary pedigree, having previously been with the team at Michelin-starred, award-winning Morston Hall.

The guide continued by saying the Red Lion excelled in delicious but simple traditional pub food, and a warm, comfortable atmosphere - praising, in particular, the crispy chicken Caesar and cuttlefish ragu.

On the pub's future, Mr Goldstone said: "It's the start of a hopefully long and happy journey".
