Norfolk will see persistent rain this week as the weather cools down, but there are blue skies ahead as the weekend is set to heat up.

Parts of the county had flash flooding on Sunday as thunderstorms hit, with King's Lynn and Hunstanton worst affected by the extreme weather.

Stephen Dixon, a spokesman for the Met Office said: "The early hours of Tuesday morning will be influenced by a weather front from the south bringing some showers - this is expected to bring a spell of more persistent rain".

Scattered periods of wet weather will be seen in the second half of the week, which are likely to be "heavy for a short period of time".

However, the region will be basked in dry and sunny weather by Saturday, with Norfolk looking at temperatures in the high 20s.

It comes after the mercury topped 31C in Marham earlier this month, making it the hottest day of the year so far.
