A three-day hunt for a missing dog ended in a rollercoaster of emotions just when its owner thought all hope was lost.

Alarm bells were raised for Tracy Turner, 62, last Friday when her dog, Betty, chased after a deer on a walk in East Harling Woods and failed to come back.

"She ran off so quickly and wouldn't return to my voice," said Mrs Turner, from Attleborough.

Attempts at finding Betty carried on until 4am the next morning when Tracy turned to social media for help, putting up a post that has since gained more than 2000 shares.

Members of the public joined in to help find the lost miniature poodle over the weekend, with a number of sightings near Shadwell Stud, the A1066, and as far as Thorpe Forest.

Three drones were also used in the hunt but Tracy said it was like finding a needle in a haystack.

"The drones couldn't see through all the trees - it was hopeless," she said. "Apparently she was black with mud."

Mrs Turner, who works at Turner's Occupational Health in Attleborough, was close to losing hope and considered offering a reward for Betty's safe return.

"My mum passed away two weeks ago and I had just about had enough."

But hopes were lifted when three people from Diss who had turned out to help look phoned her to tell her they had found Betty alive and well at Forest Holidays Thorpe where they were having lunch.

"I could not believe it," Mrs Turner said, having rushed to the site to rescue her.

"Betty was next to a fence and she saw us but would not come so we laid down and waited.

"My son's dog Nel went up to her and they had a sniff.

"Betty was getting ready to run again but Nel stopped her and pushed her in our direction.

"She then saw me and it seems to click and she ran straight to my arms.

"I'm so emotional and so happy."
