It was the competition that helped catapult a certain Suffolk singer to chart-topping superstardom. Now, it's back for its 11th year.

Future Radio's Next Big Thing competition was part of Ed Sheeran's rise to fame, with other past winners including The Thinking Men and Harry Edwards. Now, the hunt is on for 2015-16's winner.

Artists hoping to follow in these footsteps have until December 1 and land a coveted place in the competition. The semi-finals take place at the Open venue in Norwich on January 30 and 31. These will be judged by a selection of industry professionals, with acts advancing to the final on March 5.

Daniele Fisichella, Future's station manager said: 'Future Radio's Next Big Thing is the best up and coming music competition in the region. The former winners speak for themselves.

'Last year's winner, Harry Edwards, is already involved in some exciting projects, while Ed Sheeran, who won in 2008, certainly lived up to the competition's name.'

Rick Lennox, live music manager of Open said: 'It's not easy getting noticed these days, so even reaching the semis gains an act valuable awareness.'

Lizz Page, editor of Outline Magazine, who will once again be working with the event, said: 'It brings talent to the surface, to the attention of new fans, and gives them a wider recognition, which they deserve.'
