The arts will come alive in Watton from this weekend as the town's festival gets underway.

The week-long event begins on Saturday and features a mix of artists and productions old and new from across the globe.

The events have been selling well, particularly the popular local production The Good Old Days, but tickets are still available and should mostly be available on the door.

The festival offers nostalgic trips, such as a showing of the 1959 Alec Guinness film, Our Man in Havana, on Tuesday, a tale of Gilbert and Sullivan and their operettas with musical interludes on Tuesday, and re-creations of some of the characters made famous by Joyce Grenfell on Monday.

Other events will showcase world music and theatre, including an Indian and African dance night on Wednesday and An African Adventure - an interactive concert for children on Saturday, October 27.

Musicians ranging from the Amici Singers and the New English Concert Orchestra to the Sole Bay Jazz Band will give performances from Friday, October 26 through to Sunday, October 28.

Theatrical productions will include Raymond Sargent's Two Victorian Tales on Thursday and the return of The Good Old Days on the first Saturday.

Youngsters will also be catered for with a Junior Startime talent contest on Sunday and a magic and Punch and Judy show on Wednesday.

Nearly all events will take place at the Queens Hall and will run until Sunday, October 28.
