Day three of Outside Live's event at Taverham Hall saw Norfolk based bands Sam Coe & The Long Shadows and Morganway warming up the crowds ahead of leading British country duo 'The Shires'.
The sun shone as they opened up, rather ironically, with Nashville Grey Skies, a song from their debut album Brave. Right from the off fans were on their feet singing and dancing to this popular song.
Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes, who formed The Shires in 2013, fed their opening song seamlessly into the title track from their second album My Universe. This emphasised just how much their sound has matured.
A few songs into the set they slowed things down with Naked, a song from their newest album. This track really showcased their exquisite vocals and effortless harmonies.
The pace was bought right back up to speed with Beats To Your Rhythm which had lots of country fans on their feet.
Halfway through their set, they performed Daddy's Little Girl, an emotional track where Crissie took lead vocals in a song dedicated to her late father. Silence fell over Taverham Hall as the raw emotion and heartfelt lyrics captivated all of their fans.
Throughout the rest of the show, they continued to perform a selection of everyone's favourite tracks from both albums. The duo sounded even better live than they do in the studio which is something very rare in modern music.
It's hardly a surprise that Brave led to them becoming the first British country band ever to chart in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart. My Universe became the fastest-selling UK country album in history playing an important role in stamping the UK in the country music scene.
With promises of a third album coming our way next year, we look forward to seeing what else Ben & Crissie have to share with us all – because let's be honest, it's not going to fall short of musical perfection.
