This year's Summer Rep at Sherimgham's little theatre began with an enchantingly comical performance of Terence Frisby's Funny About Love.

It is the tale of a wife whose husband runs off with his pregnant secretary and leaves her alone in the marital home.

The wife Rose, played by Mary Lincoln, hatches up a mad-cap revenge plan with the secretary's jilted husband Darren, played by young Wirral actor Luke Frances.

With a cast of four, each character develops through the play, and with the laughs coming hard and often it is easy to be swept along with their story.

This production of Funny About Love launched last night and was directed by the British playwright and novelist himself, under whose watchful eye the actors made convincing performances.

Actress Maeve Smyth made a dazzling professional debut, after graduating from the East 15 Acting School this year, as secretary Larissa Tucker.

And husband Piers Buxton, played by James Hirst who performed last year in Sheringham at the MO, had comic timing honed to a fine art.
