Artists are being invited to take part in an open air celebration of painting in our fine city.
Paint Out Norwich is returning this autumn for a third year and people can now apply for the chance to join the competition.
The event will take place in October and more than 50 artists are expected to be found dotted around the city capturing scenes of Norwich on canvas.
There will also be a public paint out event in Tombland on one of the days, giving everybody the chance to pick up a paintbrush.
James Colman, who founded the competition, said: 'If you are planning to develop your painting skills there is no better place than to actually get out on the streets with experienced artists.
'Once you have gotten over the prospect of people looking over your shoulder it's a doddle and it is fantastically enjoyable not only for the artists but also for the public who get to engage with this mass creativity.
'It's a chance for less experienced people to paint side by side with professionals and there are not many places in the country where you can do that.
'If you are a keen artist and you want to pick up tips, this is a great place to do it.'
The competition is now in its third year and Mr Colman said he was delighted with the success of the event which is part of the annual Hostry Festival.
'The great thing is that people seem to love it in the city. They have really taken it under their wing,' he said.
'This year we are hoping to see a really broad range of work, from the traditional through to the experimental.'
This year Paint Out is partnering with Anteros Arts Foundation and North on Fye Bridge Street to provide a vibrant hub from where workshops and seminars will kick start the Paint Out Norwich programme on October 15.
There will then be a mass public paint out event in Tombland on October 16 where everyone is invited to join the Paint Out Norwich competitiors in a painting session and have the chance to have their work displayed at Anteros Arts Foundation.
The main competition will then take place on October 17 and 18, when the public will be able to watch the Paint Out Norwich competitors creating work around the city. The main competition will be split into categories - oils, watercolour, mixed media, freestyle (with no time constraints) and nocturne. New for this year, Pub and Paddle are also providing canoes so that the artists can go out on canoes and paint views from the water.
All the work created will then be displayed at Norwich Cathedral's Hostry. A gala preview, prize-giving and auction will take place on October 19 and the exhibition will then run until October 29.
