A day-long buskathon featuring 20 musicians will take place outside the Forum in Norwich this Saturday ahead of an extended event in aid of Oxfam later in the month.

The Oxjam Norwich Takeover will feature 40 bands and musicians playing at six or more venues across the city.

Before that a sample of the performers will be drumming up support with the acoustic buskathon, which runs from 9am to 5pm.

Oxjam is a nationwide event which sees thousands of musicians across hundreds of venues come together to create a month of music dedicated to raising money for the charity.

Lucy Bryant, spokesman, said: 'The Oxjam events in Norwich are just one part of a movement of hundreds of gigs, club nights and events right across the country. It's fantastic to be able to use the talent of local musicians to help raise so much money to fight poverty, and put on a great show at the same time.'

This year, organisers are asking people to demand change until they are blue in the face by raising valuable funds and awareness for Oxfam's ongoing climate change campaign.

The highlight of the month is the Oxjam Takeover, when more than 2,000 musicians will fill over 150 venues in more than 20 cities on October 25.

Plans for the Oxjam Norwich are well under way and details of tickets, venues and bands are available at www.oxjameast2009.co.uk.
