A Baroque concert inspired by paintings will take place in Norwich this weekend.
Norwich Baroque is presenting Pictures at an Exhibition at Norwich Central Baptist Church on Saturday.
The concert takes its lead from Mussorgsky's Pictures at An Exhibition which was inspired by a visit he made to an art gallery. In the concert's programme the audience will find beautiful artwork by Vermeer, Pollock and Cotman and there will also be paintings to enjoy viewing in the interval. The music will be introduced by music historian and BBC presenter Dr Simon Heighes and all the music choices were brought to mind by the pictures. Norwich Baroque will be joined by soprano Jayne May-Sysum and the programme will include works by Handel, Hayes, Purcell and Rebel.
The concert is on Saturday at 7.30pm at Norwich Central Baptist Church, in Duke Street. Tickets £16/£14 (£2 for young aged 18 or under) - call 01603 630000 or visit www.norwichbaroque.co.uk
