Matilda The Musical among the new shows heading to Norwich Theatre Royal

Fans of Roald Dahl will be in for a treat as Matilda The Musical heads to Norwich for a five-week run in summer 2019.
The Royal Shakespeare Company's stage adaptation of the classic book will be at Norwich Theatre Royal from July 16 to August 17 next year.
It is part of a packed programme of new shows to feature in the venue's new brochure which is out today.
Judy Foster, from Norwich Theatre Royal, said: 'Matilda The Musical has won numerous awards around the world, including 16 for best musical, so we're delighted to be able to bring such outstanding family entertainment to our stage, along with some superb drama and comedy, some of the country's best dance and opera, and our classical music series of concerts.'
Ahead of Matilda taking to the stage next year, among the new highlights for 2018 is the National Theatre's production of Macbeth which sets the Shakespearean tragedy in a post-apocalyptic world and is heading to Norwich from October 20 to November 3.

Also coming to the theatre's stage is Mischief Theatre's The Comedy About A Bank Robbery from October 16 to 20, meanwhile The Full Monty will return from November 26 to December 1. There is lots for dance fans, including Rambert's Life Is A Dream on September 27 and 28 and Northern Ballet's production of The Nutcracker from November 21 to 24.
David Walliams' Awful Auntie brings fun for all the family from November 8 to 10. Peppa Pig is returning with a new show on September 18 and 19, and the Ministry of Science will present explosive experiments on October 10. Jaw-dropping circus spectacle will also take to the stage on October 13 and 14 when Cirque Éloize presents Cirkopolis.

There are a host of music treats, including The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company returning with a double bill of Trial By Jury and The Sorcerer on September 21 and Ruddigore on September 22, meanwhile Glyndebourne Tour 2018 will present Verdi's La Traviata on November 13 and 16, a Behind The Curtain event on November 15, and Massenet's Cendrillon (Cinderella) on November 14 and 17.
The Theatre Royal's Creative Matters Seasons will also continue in Stage Two in May with events focussing on living with dementia.
ONE NIGHT SHOWS
An array of classical music concerts are among the newly-announced one-night events.
The Czech National Symphony Orchestra, which is already booked for April 15, will return on December 2, meanwhile the Russian State Symphony Orchestra will perform on October 7, and further into the future, Flanders Symphony Orchestra will perform on March 17 2019 and the Russian Philharmonic of Novosibirsk on May 19 2019.
Back to 2018, Odes to St Cecilia will see works by Purcell, Britten and Handel performed on November 25.
Other one-night events include the RAF In Concert Centenary Tour on September 29, George Michael tribute show Fast Love on September 30, Britain's Got Talent stars Flawless on November 6, and Sixties Gold on November 11. More than 300 young performers will star in Anglia Region Theatre School's Cinemotion on September 23, and the Theatre Royal will host its annual open day on August 11.
