The Lifestyles festival in Hunstanton returned with a splash after the disappointment of last year.

The annual kite surfing and extreme sports festival was cancelled last year because of fundraising and management problems.

But the show exploded back into life after extreme sports fans voted with their wallets to help raise more than £20,000 through a public fundraising campaign and a new headline sponsor in Highline Extreme.

Chairman Liz Pendleton said: 'It is a true triumph against adversity.

'There were times last year where I wondered whether the show would get going again, but here we are. 'There has been a fantastic atmosphere, we have had more than 100 volunteers help us and despite the typical British weather the public seem to have enjoyed themselves.

The festival ran from Friday to Sunday and was attended by hundreds of families across the region.

The main attraction of the weekend was the kite surfing which showcased the skills of Britain's best.

There had been worries that bad weather could affect the running of the kite surfing.

Despite mixed conditions over the weekend, competitions were able to go ahead, and visitors were able to take part in water sports.

Other sports on offer included BMXing, climbing, skateboarding and parkour.

The festival featured several new attractions including a street dance competition and street art graffitti.

Trustee of the festival Emily Gore-Rowe said: 'In the past there have been complaints in Hunstanton about issues such as under age-drinking - but everything ran smoothly this weekend, there were no problems and everybody had a great time.'

Backing for the festival came through headline sponsors Highline Extreme, Lingo Design, Hunstanton Watersports, Chicago's, Barking Dog Media, New IT and Park Resorts.
