In 2012, something rather odd happened in rock music: the geeks took over.
Gone were the posturing, hard-partying stars of yesteryear replaced by a trio of nerds and their stellar debut album 'An Awesome Wave'. And it was that same year on the lowly Lake Stage at Henham Park when that very band, Alt-J, sealed their slot as Britain's most exciting new act with a knock-out set.
Six years later and they are closing the festival on the main stage. It has been quite a journey for Alt-J.
Back then the crowd nodded along; these days they sing every word back at the band. This was a set that took the crowd on Alt-J's impressive journey with large slices of all three of the band's albums included.
The biggest sing-alongs were saved for favourites 'Breezeblocks', 'Every Other Freckle' and 'Left Hand Free' but the darker tracks from latest album 'Relaxer' also took on a new life at Latitude.
This festival loves Alt-J. Regulars at Henham Park have nurtured and encouraged the lads from Leeds since almost day dot. This was a fitting reward.
