Thousands of extreme sports enthusiasts will be flocking to Norfolk this weekend.

Top kite surfers, skaters and BMXers will be showing off their skills at Lifestyles 2008, which is being staged at Hunstanton from Friday.

Kite surfers will be competing in the British Kite Surfing Association's national ranking grand prix.

Lifestyles Festival, organised by West Norfolk council, Hunstanton Sailing Club and Klas-A, and sponsored by Adran Flux Insurance Services, runs throughout the weekend and is packed full of live sporting action, music and VW mania.

As well as being treated to aerial acrobatics and awe-inspiring stunts, there will be plenty of opportunities for spectators to get involved with free workshops and activities. The skate park, which was opened last year, thanks to funding secured by Klas-A, will be open to the public and there will be workshops available for those who want some tips and advice on skateboarding, BMXing and in-line skating.

Kite surfing, break dance, and climbing are amongst the other activities that people can try their hand at.

Elizabeth Nockolds, Wesr Norfolk's cabinet member for sports, arts and open spaces, said: "Lifestyles isn't just about demonstrations from top performing professionals, it's about introducing people to a completely different range of sporting activities and encouraging people to have a go.

“The weekend is packed full of workshops and activities for people to try - that's something we just couldn't do without sponsorship. We are thrilled that Adrian Flux Insurance Services is supporting this high profile event and helping people in the borough to get active."

Nicola Bray, from Adrian Flux, said: "Adrian Flux Insurance Services was attracted to the event because it is a large local event with a national appeal. We are a Norfolk based national company so we like to support local events which help attract people to the area and put it on the map.

“The Lifestyles event has grown every year and due to the nature of the attractions and competitions it attracts a large number of Campervan and VW Beetle owners, both of which are key specialist vehicles insured by Adrian Flux Insurance Services."

Stuart Moore, commodore of Hunstanton Sailing Club, said:"With easy access to relatively calm waters, and wide open spaces there really is no better place to hold an outdoor event particularly when it includes water and beach activities. Whatever your age or ability Lifestyles Festival 2008 Hunstanton is for you and we have aimed to provide inspiration for everyone to get active.

“The festival event has also received the support of the local traders and provides them with an ideal opportunity to demonstrate their friendly service and everything else that is good about Hunstanton."

Evening entertainment will be courtesy of live bands in the entertainment marquee. One of the UK's top reggae/SKA bands, 'Rebelation' will be headlining on Saturday and the spotlight will also fall on the winner of Hunstanton's Battle of the Bands.

Another popular attraction will be a feast of beetles and camper vans as Norfolk Dubfolk, the VW Beetle club, will be holding their annual show in Hunstanton as part of the Lifestyles event.

"This event just keeps growing," said Tony Devenish, the council's sports development officer.

"We had a lot of national media interest last year, and the range of talent we attract makes it a really visual event that everyone can enjoy."

Other attractions at Lifestyles this year will include trade stalls, Kite Surf trainers and much more besides.
