This unusual glass sculpture is one of the lots in the latest Modern Design sale being held at the Roydon Road saleooms of TW Gaze in Diss this Saturday, August 2.
Bought by the vendor directly from the Finnish factory of Nuutajarvi (which later merged with Iittala) the Lollipop sculpture is an original late 1960s piece designed by Oiva Toikka.
Standing 13 inches high it is an impressive piece of cased glass which was part of a larger range, the most famous known as the Lollipop Aisle.
The Iittala factory has recently re-issued some of the designs in limited numbers.
Oiva Toikka is currently better known for his series of glass birds, but started with ceramics at Arabia in the late 1950s.
After a few years at the textile and fashion firm Marimekko he joined the Nuutajarvi Glass factory in 1963 and began with domestic wares.
