The hit film which stars John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John was up against two other popular films in a vote by Norwich City Council to choose one for an outdoor screening this summer.

The two others were Beetlejuice and Flashdance. But Grease won with 56.9pc of the votes cast.

There were 392 votes in total, with Grease receiving 223, Beetlejuice 126 and Flashdance 43.

The box office hit is due to be shown during this summer on Norwich Castle Green as part of the Lord Mayor's Celebrations at a date yet to be announced.

Tickets for the event will be available from the Tourist Information Centre at the Forum from April to May, priced at £3.
