Did you ever wonder what happened to Lady Bracknell at the end of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest?
Playwright Paul Doust's Lady Bracknell's Confinement, a Wilde comedy monologue, takes up her story from the end of the play.
It will be performed by Chalk Reef Amateur Productions at St Margaret's Church, Thorpe Market, on Saturday, October 14 at 7pm.
The play is back in north Norfolk by popular demand after a successful run in Cromer.
As the curtain rises, the final moments of Wilde's play can be heard offstage, as Jack Worthing discovers every obstacle has been removed from marriage to his beloved Gwendolen. However, Lady Bracknell enters in a fluster and it soon becomes clear why.
Director Gregory Hayman said: 'The play will provide an hilarious evening's entertainment for lovers of Wilde's original play and those who are new to it.'
