COLIN WILSON
Wombatwombat presents Emma Pollock, founder member of the Delgados, at Norwich Arts Centre this Saturday, from 7.30pm. As a member of the Glasgow band and a founder of their pioneering Chemikal Underground record label, Emma has long been an influential figure in independent music.
The Delgados released five critically-acclaimed albums during 10 years together including The Great Eastern, nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2000.
Emma spent most of 2006 at work on her debut solo album which is scheduled for release later this year. Her debut single, Adrenaline, was released on Monday. It's a breathless tumble of a song, hooky, dynamic, brimming with confidence, and animated effortlessly by Emma's bewitching voice.
Main support comes from Emmy the Great, with Norwich favourites Fiel Garvie opening proceedings. There'll be the customary selection of rising local talent in the cafe/bar curated by Howlback Hum. Tickets £7adv/£8door.
