A concert at Stalham next week is raising funds for the national Battle of Britain Wings appeal.

On Wednesday December 18 Norfolk Wherry Brass and Potter Heigham Branch of the Royal Air Forces Association will combine to present the 10th annual Royal Air Forces Association Christmas Concert in the main hall at Stalham High School on Brumstead Road.

The concert starts at 7.30pm with doors open from around 7pm. There are no bookings, so the earlier you get there, the better seat you get.

The newly-formed Norfolk Wherry Brass Development Band (formerly known as the youth band) will also be playing during the concert in their second outing under the direction of Steve Clarke.

The John Barry Memorial Shield will also be presented by John's widow Josie during the evening.

This event has taken place every Christmas since the band was formed in 2004 and has raised almost £6,800.00 for the band and the Royal Air Forces Association's Battle of Britain Wings Appeal.

The band, formed in 2004 and based at Neatishead's New Victory Hall, will be staging 10-year anniversary celebrations throughout 2014.

During its decade of concerts and competing it has in the past been crowned national champions in its section.

The band said: 'Nothing says Christmas like a good brass band playing all the old favourites so come along to our Christmas concert to hear all those and a few things you might not be expecting.'

Tickets at £6 (£1 for under 16's) are available from Century Printing, (132 High Street Stalham) or on the door.
