ALISON CROOSE King's Lynn Corn Exchange

ALISON CROOSE

It was a night when lovers of musicals could luxuriate in a celebration of some of the best from Broadway and the West End.

From the glitz of Chicago to the drama of Miss Saigon, via the fun of Mamma Mia, a team of real troupers presented a string of showstoppers.

In their midst was 17-year-old Lucinda Bronte, from Wisbech, who so impressed the company at auditions they have included her in their team.

Lucinda, who has appeared in many amateur shows in West Norfolk, has been identified as a star of tomorrow.

She more than held her own alongside the stalwarts who have made Beyond Broadway a highly popular musical concert which has been on the road for some four years.

The mainstays were producer Ed O'Driscoll, Lynn O'Driscoll and musical director Simon Townley on a musical journey which included an interesting collection of numbers from the Broadway hits.

The audience enjoyed anew songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Carousel and Sunset Boulevard and Lucinda demonstrated her potential in Don't Rain on My Parade.

This thoroughly entertaining show marked the global success of Les Miserables and songs from Grease provided a rocking encore.
