Lynn Festival Too line-up unveiled

Soul singer Beverley Knight will headline this summer's Festival Too in King's Lynn, along with Eric Faulkner's Bay City Rollers and S Club 3.

The free festival takes place on the Tuesday Market Place from June 27 to July 11 and also includes tribute acts Blondied, Bon Giovi and U2UK, plus local bands.

Multi-award-winning Beverley Knight is best known for her hit singles including Shoulda Woulda Coulda, Come as You Are and Greatest Day, and appeared on the BBC singing programme Just The Two of Us. She will close the festival at about 9.30pm on July 11.

Eric Faulkner's Bay City Rollers will play all the Rollers' hits for the tartan army and S Clubbers Jo O'Meara, Bradley Mcintosh and Paul Cattermole will perform classic S Club tracks.

They will also be joined by local bands Boned and The Brink and for the opening celebration on June 27 there is entertainment, music, a funfair and fireworks from 8pm.

Winners from a Battle of the Bands competition will also perform.

Chairman of the festival Ron Leadley said they were very pleased with the line-up this year.

'We have to cater for quite a spectrum of people and I'm very pleased with who we've got - I think Beverley Knight is brilliant.

'Businesses have been very supportive in spite of the economic gloom and we want to make King's Lynn a festival town.'

The festival is a not-for-profit event sponsored by local and national businesses and groups, and all money raised is put back in for the following year.

Mr Leadley, managing director at Lynn-based Roomfoss, said they were already looking towards 2010, which will celebrate 25 years of the festival.

'I have been involved since 2000 but a lot of the guys have been with it since it started. We are planning a really big act for next year,' he said.

Acts that have appeared in previous years include The Stranglers, Atomic Kitten, Bad Manners, Heather Small and The Human League.
