A trio of artist siblings will be exhibiting together for the first time as part of the annual Norfolk Open
Studios.
The countywide arts event will see more than 240 artists welcome visitors to their studios, garden sheds and workshops next weekend.
Businesswoman Jane Stubbs, who owns two Creativity shops in Sheringham, recently went back to her roots as a textile artist and, keen to exhibit her work, came up with the idea of signing up for Open Studios with her twin brothers, well-known Norfolk artists Michael and Jonathan Sanders.
'I thought it would be very interesting for people to see,' she explained.
'Although our work is quite different, I think we are attracted to the same images and, because we are very close, there is almost a thread running through it.'
Leicester-born Mrs Stubbs, who trained as a textile artist at Loughborough Art College, worked as an art college lecturer before following her parents to Norfolk in 1980.
After a stint running an art gallery at Alby Crafts and Gardens, she opened her own gift and homeware shop in Sheringham and, after moving to bigger premises in 2005, opened a second shop on Lifeboat Plain.
'Because one of the shops has been closed for the winter, it has given me a chance to take a step back and spend time doing my own artwork,' she said.
Mrs Stubbs, who is exhibiting under her maiden name of Sanders, creates textile pictures featuring Norfolk scenes from beach huts, to seascapes, as well as winter landscapes inspired by her frequent trips to Yorkshire.
Her brother Michael paints large-scale, mixed media canvases whose subjects range from Blakeney, Salthouse and West
Runton, to France, Italy and Spain.
His twin Jonathan focuses on the people and wildlife of Africa in a series of paintings and bronzes, also producing seascapes and landscapes depicting scenes from around the UK.
Work by the trio will be on show at Creativity at Home, 5 Lifeboat Plain, Sheringham, NR26 8BG, from next Saturday until June 7.Norfolk and Norwich Open Studios includes art trails, events and demonstrations.
The trails in north Norfolk include: Aylsham; Cromer; North East (Stalham, Ingham, Bacton and Happisburgh); Two Rivers (Barton Turf and Neatishead); Reepham; and Buxton and Coltishall.
