A week of workshops for young people who want to break into the music industry will start tomorrow in Norwich.
And for those who missed out on tickets to the BBC Radio 1 Academy at Open on Bank Plain, a week-long Hangout at the venue will be open for young people to drop-in for activities and advice.
Stars attending the masterclasses, performances and workshops include Jessie Ware, Ella Eyre, and the Maccabees. BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens said: 'I can't wait for this year's Academy in Norwich, which kicks off tomorrow. We've got a really strong line-up of home-grown Norfolk talent to play the BBC Introducing gigs and we're hoping to discover even more with our open mic night on Wednesday. Make sure you come down to the Hangout and get involved.'
The Radio 1 Big Weekend is in Norwich on May 23 and 24, but a week of free workshops for 16 to 19- year-olds aims to leave a legacy in the city.
Activities in the Hangout area include DJ decks, Future Radio pop- up, design and print your own guitar plectrum key ring, chart rundown booth and Academy photo booth.
There will also be a selection of electric instruments for jamming or playing solo with headphones.
BBC Introducing gigs at Open will be free and open to all and include Huw Stephens and Norfolk's Sophie Little who will present new acts.
On Wednesday Essex band The Bohicas will headline, supported by Norwich acts Daisy Victoria and Real Life Charm. On Thursday Reading's Sundara Karma will be supported by Norwich bands Teen Brains and Montagues and Capulets. Huw Stephens will DJ on both the nights, which begin at 7pm.
