It is a political drama with a cast of colourful characters that has gripped the nation. And now the EU referendum has even upstaged the latest production by an amateur theatre group.
The Jubilee Players have been forced to reschedule a staging of their play Night Must Fall because the venue, Horstead Tithe Barn, is being used as a polling station.
However, with all the performances sold out, the cast and crew have taken the disruption in their stride.
Director Libby Henshaw said: 'We normally perform from Wednesday to Friday, but because of the referendum the first show was a day early.
'Everyone has done brilliantly, we have tried to simplify things as much as possible by not putting up a full stage and performing in the round.'
Written by Emlyn Williams, Night Must Fall is described as a psychological thriller set in 1930s Essex.
According to Mrs Henshaw there are parallels between the play and the EU referendum.
She added: 'The audience have said they had no idea what the outcome would be and the play had them on the edge of their seats until the final scene, so in that sense there are similarities. But, we have been too busy rehearsing to discuss the referendum.'
