The audience at King's Lynn Arts Centre were taken on an amazing rollercoaster ride of emotions at the stage performance of Captain Corelli's Mandolin last night.
The story of a small community on the Greek island of Cephalonia, invaded by German and Italian soldiers during the second world war was told by Mike Maran in such a way that the audience were thrown from fits of laughter to tears of despair.
The performance was enhanced with the enchanting sounds of pianist Anne Evans and the captivating mandolin playing of Alison Stephens, as well as fine use of lighting.
This masterpiece of storytelling adapted by Mike Maran and Phyllis Contini, produced and directed by Mike Maran, could not have done Louis de Bernieres novel more proud. This is a must for any theatregoer.
