LORNA MARSH
Visitors to Norwich market are being asked to lose themselves in a new art project – literally.
The Provision exhibition by local artist Anna Townley and writer Lawrence Bradby delves into the way people negotiate the often confusing layout of the market.
They spent two months doing all of their shopping on the market to see if it would change their own mental maps.
The pair were also interested in how traders see the market, asking them to draw sketch maps showing where they shopped and what names they used for the different stalls.
The information will be presented as a digital animation, a series of three-dimensional maps and poems inspired by the market.
The exhibition runs from December 4 to 11 on stall 21 at the top end of row A, opposite the internet café. It will be open 10am until 5pm, except on December 5, when it will be closed, and December 9 when it will be open until 7pm.
