A lecture taking a new look at the investigation into the Jack the Ripper case is being held at the University of East Anglia in Norwich on Wednesday April 27.
Former Bedfordshire murder squad detective Trevor Marriott will host a public lecture titled Jack the Ripper: The 21st Century Investigation, which ties in with the launch of his book of the same title. It is the culmination of years of research which aims to cast aside the rumours, fantasies and legends associated with the case.
The book places a new 'Ripper' suspect in the frame and questions the widely-accepted theory that five women were killed. Instead, he states that there could have been as many as nine victims.
The lecture, supported by more than 80 slides showing both victims' remains and crime scenes, starts at 7.30pm in the Main Lecture Theatre.
Trevor has been a long-time researcher of the Whitechapel Murders, which took place in London in 1888, and were attributed to Jack the Ripper – a mysterious killer who was never positively identified.
Tickets for the lecture at £6.50 (£5 for students) from the box office on 01603 508050 or on the night.
