The story of a girl's search for Mr Right is nothing new - and this one-woman show was not even blessed with a happy ending.
But it proved compelling entertainment with our heroine's excellent performance delivered entirely in song.
Tell Me on a Sunday began as a hit album and TV special written for Marti Webb by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Don Black. Four years ago it was re-worked and new songs added to create a full-length show.
Sadie Morris, musical director for two youth theatre productions at West Acre, used her classically-trained voice to great effect on songs such as Take That Look Off Your Face and the title number.
A disastrous romance in London prompts the nameless girl to see if the grass is greener in New York and she sets off full of optimism. Songs chronicle the agony and ecstasy of the bumpy road to love, at the same time providing a social commentary on the idiosyncrasies of life in America.
Matt Grist's direction underlined the poignancy of the story which was further enhanced by projected visual images.
