From fossil hunting on the beach to sampling the best of the county's crafts, food and produce, there's a host of things to do in north Norfolk this half term. Here are just ten of the many family-friendly events on offer.

Enjoy a coffee and a cake and do a spot of shopping at the Creations craft and gift fair, which runs at Holt Church Hall on May 26 from 10am-4pm. With lots of crafts and gifts, as well as delicious homemade refreshments.

Fun for all the family is on offer at Weybourne on May 27, at the popular annual North Norfolk Country Fair in aid of the village community fund. Includes all day arena entertainment and attractions ranging from a classic car show, to a mobile zoo, as well as children's rides and two large marquees with arts, crafts and local produce. Put your cooking skills to the test at a Bake Off-style competition being held as part of a 1940s tea party at Southrepps village hall on May 27 from 2pm-5pm. Bring your own sandwiches, vintage crockery and decorations, with prizes handed out for best dressed table and tea pot and baking contest categories including best sponge, biscuits, tray bake and cupcake. £5 entry with unlimited tea and coffee.

The North Norfolk Railway will be taken over by the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard from Sunday 27th - Monday 28th May, when volunteers from Thetford Dad's Army Museum will be recreating some of the best moments from the classic BBC comedy as part of the attraction's hugely popular annual Dad's Army weekend. www.nnrailway.co.uk May 29 – June 1st North Norfolk District Council's sports team will be running a fun-packed programme of events for ages seven-12 at Cromer, Stalham and North Walsham sports centres. Kids can choose activities ranging from football and multisports, or sign up for an activity day with arts, crafts and games, ranging from rounders and cricket, to Frisbee and musical chairs. www.northnorfolk.gov.uk/bookFind out about some of the amazing beasts that lived along the north Norfolk coast millions of years ago at a Fascinating Fossils event on West Runton beach from 10am-11.30am on May 29. Felbrigg Hall will be hosting an event dedicated to the best food, crafts and produce the county has to offer on May 30, at its annual Made in Norfolk event. St Margaret's Church, at Thorpe Market, will be inviting audiences to step into the magical world of Shakespeare at 7.30pm on May 31, with a production of the Bard's much-loved play A Midsummer Night's Dream. With modern characterisation, live folk music and choral song, the play promises to appeal to all ages.

Tickets, priced £5-£32, are available from www.thisismytheatre.comBands, buskers, choirs and dancers are just some of the acts in the line-up for this year's Stalham Fringe Festival, which runs 11am-6pm on June 3. There will also be stalls along High Street, puppet-making workshops and a host of other attractions at various town centre venues. Look out for the red and white balloons to guide you to performances.
