Wymondham moved a point clear at the top of Greene King Eastern Counties League Division One with a 15-try demolition of a Hadleigh side who travelled with just 15 men.

Wymondham were still without Matt Ambrose and Tom Masters from the forwards and also lost Tom Wilson with a virus from last week's team, so it was good to add Josh Mickleburgh, Tom Elias and Harry Anderson-Brown back on the bench with Onisimo Sagakelele coming into the side at centre replacing the unfortunate Wilson.

Wymondham took the lead after four minutes when a quick tap was fed to Steve Simms by James Wyatt and he ghosted through to score an excellent try, converted by Wyatt.

Wymondham's attack play was now beginning to flow and when Wyatt kicked deep into the opposition's half the awkward bounce allowed Wyatt to scored an unconverted try to make it 12-0 after 10 minutes.

Hadliegh came back strongly and converted a penalty but it was 19-3 on the half hour mark as David Martin outpaced the defence and scored a nice try near the posts which was converted.

After 35 minutes a good attack by Nick Ferns with clever interpassing between him and Sagakelele saw the latter score under the posts and with the conversion made the score moved to 26-3 and a bonus point.

The score had moved on to 33-3 at the break, Simms scoring under the posts after good defensive work by Alex Wigney.

Wymondham started the second half strongly and Martin quickly scored under the posts, with Wyatt converting.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for the visitors as they were reduced to 14 men by a hamstring injury and their lack of any replacements.

The tries came thick and fast after that, with Wymondham eventually falling just one point short of a century. Sagakelele was next to score, with the other touchdowns coming from Mackay, Brugger (2) Sagakelele (2), Simms, Wyatt and Martin (his second hat-trick in consecutive weeks). Wyatt finished up with 12 conversions.

This bonus point win puts Wymondham back on top in the league as Ipswich YM only had a close win against Harwich & Dovercourt and so no bonus point.

Next week they face a tricky away trip to Woodbridge and must ensure that their concentration is spot-on.
